For Loyalty

For Loyalty

- by Lucy Hinton, 2012/13

Loyalty parries with a shining blade

when the armies race and roar and charge

He rides through arrows and comes to your aid

when you’re making your last march

He presses through storms, a valiant pony

Sure-footed in the treacherous ravine

Over endless hills he’ll carry you slowly

No matter the pain or extreme

And when you’re stretched thin and cracking within

Dropping plates and losing your cool

He sees through your scowl and the bite of your growl

To the pure naked jewel of your soul

When life carries on and you fear that he's gone

and his love has been buried by time

He holds your heart safe and feeds it with faith

So you never forget you're divine

And if on the way you forget who you are

and don false masks of ego and sin

He calls you to earth and points to your star

So humility is beckoned back in

Or if you feel small and doubt you can shine

He lovingly challenges the bar

Reminding you of what you are made of -

the hero you really are

Loyalty knows that true love is priceless

And that for true love you pay a price

And Loyalty is the one who knows

The grace of sacrifice

And if on the way you forget who you are

and don false masks of ego and sin

He calls you to earth and points to your star

So humility flows back in

And if on the way you forget who you are

and don false masks of ego and sin

He calls you to earth and points to your star

So humility circles back in

And if on the way you forget who you are

and don false masks of ego and sin

He calls you to earth and points to your star

So humility is beckoned/welcomed back in

Or if you feel small and doubt you can shine

He lovingly raises the bar

Reminding you of what you are made of -

the hero you really are

Or if you feel small and doubt you can shine

He lovingly raises the bar

Challenging you with what you are made of -

the hero you really are
