The Seagull

~ by Lucy Hinton

The more the wild winds blow

the more the seagulls love to fly

wheeling at the stormy jaws of change

rejoicing in the freedom

of the Rebel Sky

Ceear! Ceear! Ceear! They say

‘While you huddle beneath dampened wings

We do not fear the weather gods;

we love the elemental dance

of our Queens and Thunder Kings!’

The wingtips of the silver gulls

Are laced with powers of the free

Imaginations follow flights

Across the Risk-Foamed Sea
